The Five Families

• The Royal family of de Markos. A family of Fauns that has ruled this part of the land since the last 300 years. Sometimes they’ve been decent and sometimes they’ve been lordy shits. It’s how it goes with royals.
• Abrinne. A House of convenience and loyalties rather than blood. While all Houses do backroom deals and have some illegal activities, Abrinne revels in it.
• Weldenhaas. Owners of the entirety of Sidecliff. Due to this, they have limited presence in the rest of the country.
• Trisst of the Wyrmmoon. Guardsmen and logistics.
• Sal Gorines. While most of Leaf Marshes are land, Sal Gorines main form of trade is by sea, This makes them an important partner for other Houses — including the Royal House.

The Civil War

As usual the everyday folks get stuck in the middle. Diminishing importance of the royal family and the insecurities that it brings combined with the outright greed of some of the other families is what brought the country into civil war. In the end it was money against privilege and all paid the cost for that as war swept the nation.
