Ceramics

The oldest ceramics still working are made of hard clay, while younger ceramics looks like they're made from porcelain but in reality it's far more durable. Even so, during their life they tend to get cracked and mended.

The main problem people discovered about creating a ceramic, is that pesky soul. Some has volunteered — sick or dying mostly — but some on the sketchier end of the ethical spectrum has kidnapped people and just stolen their soul. The last one is easier but since all ceramics gets informed by their soul even if they don't retain any memory of their previous life, it's harder to predict or get one aligned with one's cause.

The origin of the ceramics lie with the elves in ages past, when they needed workers to do things they considered beneath them. Since then the Warren has taken upon themselves to improve the clay and make them more beautiful. There's also a few who that have figured out how to transfer an older ceramic into a new body without loss of self, memory, or soul. It's quite an achievement, not even the oldest elves figured that out.
